RIPPONIA
HYPOLITUS
Ripponia hypolitus is the sole species of its genus. It inhabits
Sulawesi and adjacent islands, as well as Central and South Moluccas.
R. hypolitus is on the wings all year around. It is locally abundant
up to 600 m elevation. It tends to be active in cloudy weather, and will rest at
shrubs and trees when the day is at its hottest. The female is said to be
awkward in flight.
