Original description: as Papilio tullia in Fauna Insectorum Fridrichsdalina : 36.
Syn.: philoxenus Esper, 1780
  davus Fabricius, 1777
Type locality of nominate species: Fredriksdal (now in Copenhagen), Denmark.
Worldwide distribution: C and N Europe, across temperate parts of Asia, North America 
from Alaska to California and the Midwest.
Subspecies in Norway: C.t.demophile, C.t.isis, C.t.orstadii.
Etymology: Tullia is the female form of the common Roman first name Tullius.

Type locality of subspecies: - - -
Distribution in Norway: North Norway.
Notes: Confirmed records are missing from North Norway. The
occurance of C. tullia orstadii in Norway is therefore
somewhat uncertain.
