N. polychloros polychloros

Auctor: Linnaeus, 1758
Syn.: - - -
Type locality of subspecies: Sweden.
Distribution in Norway: From Oslo along the coast to Kristiansand.
Notes: The last known record in Norway dates back to 1958. Another specimen is
said to have been seen near Halden on the Norwegian-Swedish border in
the late 1970's, but this needs reconfirmation. N. polychloris is probably
extinct in Norway now. Industrialized forestry and the use of insecticides are
blamed for the decline of N. polychloros.
Described forms found in Norway: none
Etymology: poly = many. chloros = green.
