Norwegian name: Bergringvinge.
Auctor: (Fabricius, 1787)
Original description: as Papilio maera v. petropolitana in Mantissa ins. 2 : 36.
hiera Fabricius, 1777 (nom. nud.)
Type locality of nominate species: "Petropol" (= St. Petersburg, Russia).
Worldwide distribution: Mountains of Central Europe and North Turkey. Fennoscandia, temperate
parts of Europe and Asia to Mongolia, Amur and North-east China.
Subspecies in Norway: P.p.ominata.
Etymology: petropolitana: Named after its type locality, St. Petersburg (Greek: "Petropolis").
