P. edusa edusa

Auctor: (Fabricius, 1777)
Syn.: Pontia daplidice Linnaeus, 1758
Type locality of subspecies: "Chilonii" (=Kiel), Germany.
Distribution in Norway: P.edusa is not a resident to Norway.
Notes: In the past P. edusa was often regarded to be a synonym of P. daplidice.
The two species are morphologically very similar, but by means of electrophoretic
methods Geyger & Scholl (1982) proved the two species to be distinct.
P. edusa is not a resident to Norway, but has been found twice in Norway;
BØ, Hole, September 1886 and FI, Sør-Varanger, July 2000. The latter locality is
quite surprising, being as far north as 69o40N.
In Scandinavia the species is a resident only in Gotland Is., Sweden, where one
of its two localities is now being destroyed by the planting of pines for pure commercial purposes.
