P. edusa edusa | |
| Auctor: | (Fabricius, 1777) |
| Syn.: | Pontia daplidice Linnaeus, 1758 |
| Type locality of subspecies: | "Chilonii" (=Kiel), Germany. |
| Distribution in Norway: | P.edusa is not a resident to Norway. |
| Notes: | In the past P. edusa was often regarded to be a synonym of P. daplidice. |
| The two species are morphologically very similar, but by means of electrophoretic | |
| methods Geyger & Scholl (1982) proved the two species to be distinct. | |
| P. edusa is not a resident to Norway, but has been found twice in Norway; | |
| BØ, Hole, September 1886 and FI, Sør-Varanger, July 2000. The latter locality is | |
| quite surprising, being as far north as 69o40N. | |
| In Scandinavia the species is a resident only in Gotland Is., Sweden, where one | |
| of its two localities is now being destroyed by the planting of pines for pure commercial purposes. | |
