English name: Speckled Wood.
Norwegian name: Flekket ringvinge.
Auctor: (Linnaeus, 1758)
Original description: as Papilio Nymphalis aegeria in Syst. Nat. (Edn. 10), I : 473.
Syn.: vulgaris Zeller, 1847
Type locality of nominate species: South Europe and Mauretania.
Worldwide distribution: NW Africa, Middle East, Europe from Ireland to the Urals and Caucasus.
Subspecies in Norway: P.a.tircis.
Etymology: aegeria: Aegeria or Egeria was a nymph in Greek mythology, said to have given
Numa Pompilus his laws.

Syn.: egerides Staudinger, 1871.
Type locality of subspecies: Paris.
Distribution in Norway: SE, S and C Norway. Also known from Møre og Romsdal, W Norway.
