Butterflies of Norway

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

The Zoological Museum of Oslo in located in beautiful surroundings at Tøyen, Oslo, Norway.
The Entomological Department houses some 4,000,000 insect specimens, many of them collected more than a hundred years ago.

During the preparation of the ”Butterflies of Norway” web site I have enjoyed the hospitality of the great staff at the Entomological Department. Although critically understaffed, the people there do a great job. They always keep their doors open for students and the public.

My special thanks go to Mr Karl Emil Raastad, who in 1999 allowed my to photograph specimens at ZMO. These photos enable me to offer photos of all Norwegian butterfly species in this web site.

Also, my thanks go to Lars Ove Hansen, Leif Aarvik and Geir E. E. Søli for their positive support.

I sincerely hope the Norwegian authorities soon will open up their eyes for the important work carried out by these enthusiasts at ZMO.

Tony
